In 2009, Annie’s held a Dream Card fundraiser to raise money for those affected by Typhoon Morakot which ravaged many areas in the Philippines, killing 23 and displacing more than 73,000 people.
The Dream Card was available for customers to buy for $100, and gave them 50% off of one item every month at Annie’s Hallmark and 30% off one item every month at Baldoria. 100% of the proceeds from Dream Card sales went to ShelterBox USA, a non-profit emergency assistance program. Since 2004, ShelterBox USA has been providing emergency supplies for people in need after a natural disaster strikes.
ShelterBox USA fills plastic tubs with supplies including tents, shovels, water filters, classroom supplies, sleeping bags / blankets and more. The supplies in each ShelterBox are tailored to the climate of the region. They are designed to keep ten people thriving for six months after a disaster strikes.
Thanks to contributions with the purchase of Dream Cards, we were able to raise funds to provide 5 ShelterBoxes to victims of Typhoon Morakot.
