The thing that makes Tilley “The World’s Best Hat” is its lifetime guarantee. Most Tilley Hats and Caps are guaranteed for life not to wear out. Here is the lifetime guarantee according to the official Tilley website:
“If there is a problem caused by poor workmanship or faulty material, please send your freshly washed Hat or Cap to us (Tilley) and we’ll replace it free – whatever’s fair. Exclusions: damage caused by misuse or improper care. Unbleached Tilley Hats and Caps will be replaced free* if they ever wear out, mildew or shrink. Proper washing of your Tilley Hat or Cap is necessary to ensure it lasts, and does not shrink.”
Getting a Replacement
If you need a Tilley replacement for your worn or damaged product, send your product in along with a note with your name, address, telephone number, and email address to the mailing address at the bottom of this article. Include a check for $7.50 ($20 USD for international clients) to cover the cost of shipping. Tilley will replace the item at no charge. If you wish to have your well-worn and loved Hat/Cap back, Tilley will be happy to send it back to you with your new one. Just ask. Please wash/dry your item prior to sending in for replacement.
Insured Against Loss – 2 Years, All Perils
Tilley understands how devastating it is to lose this reliable companion. Whether it is left on a park bench or destroyed by your family pet . . . Tilley will replace your damaged Hat or Cap at half the current catalog price.
This insurance applies only to a Tilley Hat or Cap with the exact same style for half the current catalog price, plus taxes and shipping. If you would like another style, Tilley will credit 50% of the current catalogue price for the style you lost.
“To claim under the insurance policy – send your Straight-Shooter’s Statement of Loss form, (which should be in the left side of your bottom dresser drawer, if you followed Alex Tilley’s advice) OR send us a valid proof-of-purchase (which can be, either, a copy of the original sales [receipt] or a copy of the credit card statement with purchase circled – please be sure to block out credit card number). Include your name, address, phone number, email, model number, color, size, and method of payment.”
